The story behind the Mural
Here at Vue Wine Bar & Restaurant we wanted to create a place of experience, something away from the ordinary. We wanted our fitout to be paramount to our restaurant and a feature wall was always going to be the main focus. Steering away from generic wallpaper or the standard standout coloured wall, we knew we wanted something that would make a statement.
So the story just happens to go that upon our friend Julie Cochrane’s visit to Bali, she took a photo of a restaurant they were visiting and there in all its glory was this image on the wall. We knew immediately that this was what we were looking for. Julie and her husband helped us research the artist (huge shout out to them) and eventually we found her – Justine Missen.
She told us she was inspired by Vladimir Tretchikoff, a self-taught artist who paints realistic figures, portraits, still life and animals. Justine adapted the portrait from Tretchikoff’s ‘Lady from Orient’.
Together Tanya and Justine adapted the photo to suit the fitout of Vue, and engaged renowned local artist, Jon Watson to paint the mural. We think this mural is an absolute wow factor and we have fallen in love with the space we’ve created. We hope you do too.
